A precise analytical solution is sought to the forces of repulsion for a variety of magnetic clouds, particularly for flattened ellipsoids of revolution with long axis in the direction of the repulsive force. The force acting on a flattened ellipsoid of revolution of this type is analyzed and the solution found for the repulsive force. Application of this solution in estimates of the repulsive force of magnetic clouds in interplanetary space during solar flares and magnetospheric substorms is discussed.
