The equations of state developed by Belinskii and Khalatnikov (1976 and 1977) are applied to the model of Lake (1982) for a classical collapsing radiating viscous fluid with spherically symmetric distribution of matter. It is found that the introduction of these more realistic state equations has a significant effect on the latter stages of the history of the collapsing surface.
