An alternate value is obtained for the D parameter (plasma folding scale height) of Goertz's (1979) numerical model of the Jovian current sheet. A series of equations from magnetohydrodynamic theory are used to determine the half-width of the current sheet for values of D between 0.5 and 6 at R = 50. It is shown that the parameter D is approximately equal to the folding scale height of the plasma for values of D less than 3; for larger values of D the scale height is smaller. Increases in the value of D greater than 5 may result in the collapse of the current sheet. It is suggested that in some cases it may be necessary to define the scale height in terms of the maximum fall-off point of the plasma.
