The detectability of UHE gamma-ray sources, by an underground muon tracking detector with an area of the order of about 1000 sq m is discussed. Information on the physical processes in a source like Cyg X-3 and on the interaction of photons and neutrinos which are the components emitted from the source, is presented. The high-energy muon content of the gamma-ray originated shower from Cyg X-3 is evaluated, using an analytical approximation due to Dar (1983), and compared with the low-energy part of the muon spectrum. The results are given and it is shown that the expected number of events from an UHE source depends on the spectral index and the high-energy cut-off.
