Recent laboratory work on water, methane and metal hydrides for simulation of spectral energy distributions of cool astronomical objects is reviewed. These molecules are found in sunspots, cool stellar atmospheres and in brown dwarfs. The calculation of opacities is discussed for CrH, FeH and TiH. New spectra of the Violet System of CN and the Swan System of C_2 have also been analyzed.
