The effect of planetary perturbations on the libration of the moon were calculated, in order to modify Moon's (1982) theory of lunar libration. In the modified model, planetary perturbation coefficients were added to the mean Hamiltonian of the main problem, and the motion of the center of the lunar mass was described uusing the ELP 2000 solution of Chapront and Touze (1983), taking into account the planetary perturbations. The theoretical results are compared with the '500' theory of Eckhardt (1981) for libration of more than 0.01 arcsec. It is found that the modified solutions to the main problem of Moon's theory were in good agreement with '500' theory.
