We study how factorization breaking changes when going from diffractive deep
inelastic scattering to diffractive photoproduction of dijets. These processes
offer a sensitive probe of the interplay of soft and hard mechanisms in QCD. We
demonstrate that unitarity effects are already important in the gluon
distribution for x ~ 10^{-4}, for quite a wide range of Q^2.
