In the singlet Higgs model proposed by Fukugita and Yanagida (FY) the singlet Higgs mediates spin-flip scatterings of neutrinos off electrons, which may considerably affect the supernova dynamics. In order to prevent neutrinos from escaping the star during the collapse, so as to remain with enough neutrino energy to initiate the supernova explosion, some non-trivial constraints for the coupling constants in the FY model should be satisfied. In the simplest version of the model these constraints yield limits also fro the magnetic moment μve of the electron neutrino. We show that the range 6.7×10-12 μB<μve<3.2×10-10 μB is excluded. Requiring that the predicted escape rate is not in contradiction with the observed neutrino pulse from the supernova SN1987A we obtain an independent constraint μve<2×10-13 μB.
