This investigation outlines the present state of knowledge on gamma-ray burst (GRB) origin, producing mechanisms and spectra and presents the cross sections of elementary quantum electrodynamical processes in magnetic fields near the quantum critical field employed in the interpretation of GRB continuum spectra, as well as of the low- and high-energy spectral features appearing in some of the bursts. Dirac particles that have transrelativistic velocities in such field strengths are described by the eigenfunctions of the magnetic moment operator. Electron-photon scattering and one- and two-gamma pair annihilation and production are studied and special and limiting cases are derived for comparison with previous results.
