In this paper, the secular variations in the restricted three bodies problem are considered by implementing an explicit numerical technique for studying stability of equilibrium solutions. In the present case, the three bodies are the sun, Jupiter and an asteroid. Results are obtained from studying some 'maximum stable orbital elements' corresponding to the stable equilibrium solutions of the particular problem.
