The nature, reception, and measurement of extra-terrestrial radio waves are described, followed by a discussion of the correlation of radio objects with optical objects. Radio emission from hydrogen, the sun, and the planets is discussed. The characteristics and resolving power of radio telescopes are explained. A consideration of the educational aspects of radio astronomy concludes the paper. Two appendixes discuss synchrotron radiation and galactic range finding.
