The Chandra X-ray telescope angular resolution has enabled qualitative advances in studies of complex objects, crowded fields, and very faint sources which require great sensitivity. The fabrication of the optics will be reviewed very briefly. Some examples of important results which illustrate and depend upon the optical performance of the mirrors will be presented; these include a dense young star cluster, supernovae remnants, pulsars and pulsar wind driven nebulae, globular clusters, sources in nearby galaxies, QSOs, and clusters of galaxies. This work was partially supported by NASA grant NAG8-1607 and many other NASA contracts.
