The polarization of the radiation in CH Cyg during 1974-1976 (a quiet phase) was characterized by a significant increase in the degree of polarization in UV spectral region; this is typical for many cool giants. In the active state (autumn of 1984), the degree of polarization decreased markedly in the UV. This may be due to the depolarizing effect of the emission lines.
