The absolute differential and integral cross sections of the forbidden atomic oxygen 3P-1D(1.97 eV) and 3P-1S(4.19 eV) transitions for incident electron impact energies of 4.0 to 30 eV are presented. The data for 3P-1D show a prominent sharp peak in the integral cross section just above threshold with a maximum value of about 5.5 x 10 to the -17th sq cm, which is about a factor of 2 higher than values obtained previously. No pronounced peak was observed in the 3P-1S integral cross section; this agrees with theoretical calculations.
