We briefly discuss some properties of the shocks in the existing models for quasi-two-dimensional astrophysical flows. All of these models which allow the study of shocks analytically have some unphysical characteristics due to inherent assumptions made. We propose a hybrid model for a thin flow which has fewer unpleasant features and is suitable for the study of shocks.
