We present preliminary results of our search for cataclysmic variables in two old open clusters, NGC 6791 and NGC 188. Although no new CVs have been identified so far, our searches have led to the discovery of new variable stars in both clusters. The rationale for the study as well as the data reduction packages used (DAOPhot, ISIS, and AstroVar) are also discussed.
