The paper discusses a number of experiments involving cosmic ray muons and neutrinos that can be designed using a 1000-m detector consisting of layers of magnetized (20 kG) iron interspersed by drift chambers of spatial resolution of 0.3 mm or better. Five types of experiments are considered: (1) muon interaction at energies exceeding 1 TeV, (2) muon pair spectroscopy, (3) the energy spectra of positive and negative muons, (4) neutrino interactions at energies exceeding 300 GeV, and (5) the multiplicity distribution and lateral distribution of muon bundles.
