Magnetic reconnection plays an important role on energy transfer in space plasma. In this study, we use MHD simulation with finite resistivity to study the common features and the differences in magnetic reconnections triggered by fast-mode-type, slow-mode-type, and entropy-mode-type initial perturbations. A theoretical analysis is also carried out to examine the distributions of plasma flow, the electric field, the electric current density, and the formation of the reconnected magnetic field component near the reconnection site. Based on the Maxwell equation, we predict that the changes of the Laplace of the electric field should lead to the changes of the current density in both MHD and Hall MHD plasmas. This prediction is verified by our simulation results. Although the spatial distribution of the electric field is controlled by the waves propagating in the given plasma system, our analysis shows that no matter how turbulent the waves are, the finite numerical resistivity is still needed to complete the magnetic reconnection process in the neutral sheet for both 2-D MHD and 2-D Hall-MHD plasma. Our analysis indicates that, if there is no numerical resistivity, only the 3-D turbulences due to electron baroclinic instability might be capable to generate the reconnected magnetic field component in the neutral sheet in the Hall-MHD plasma.
