The H200-beta line in the direction of Sgr A has been detected, with approximately the LTE intensity. This contradicts two published upper limits which had implied extreme physical conditions in the line-emitting gas. The observations can now be interpreted simply in terms of line-of-sight low-density H II regions, similar to those seen in other directions.
