Conditions for staticity are investigated in the case of non-rotating black holes in Einstein - Maxwell axion - dilaton gravity. It is proved that given a vanishing asymptotic value of the quantity assembled by means of 0264-9381/14/8/034/img1-duals to the U(1) gauge fields and fulfilling the additional inequality, the metric staticity condition and the staticity condition for the field in the theory under consideration will be satisfied in the domain of outer communication.
