Including relativistic effects in the previously developed classical model of energetic particle injection by an electromagnetic pulse [Zaharia et al., 2000], we carried out simulations to study the transport and energization of energetic particles from the plasma sheet to the inner magnetosphere during substorms. First, we compare the relativistic calculations of dispersionless energetic particle injection observed at geosynchronous orbit with the classical calculation results of Zaharia et al. (2000). Then, we discuss the possibility of transport and energization of particles to the outer radiation belt by EM pulses.
