[2784] Magnetospheric Physics / Solar Wind/Magnetosphere Interactions
Scientific paper
Much attention is currently being focused on so-called 'system science' in the magnetosphere. This is largely due to the realisation that it is impossible to fully understand any one area without knowledge of the interactions, coupling, and feedback from other areas in the system. High speed solar wind streams (HSSs) present a regular and repeatable driver of the magnetosphere, and are ideal events to use when taking a 'system science' view of the region. We present results of our studies into these phenomena highlighting the interaction between solar wind events and magnetospheric events. We also present a summary of future research goals.
