Light scattering by randomly oriented particles of arbitrary shape is
considered. The Waterman T-matrix approach is used to derive a simple
analytical formula for the total scattering cross section. The
assumption of particle axisymmetry substantially simplifies both
analytical transformations and numerical calculations.
