The paper puts together some recent results that have been obtained in the field of F-region dynamics. Much of the work described here is related to measurements performed with the incoherent scatter technique. As to the equatorial ionosphere, drift measurements made in Jicamarca have inspired several authors to look into the details of the low latitude F-region. For midlatitudes a lot has been learned about the relative importance of winds and electric fields in the quiet ionosphere, but the situation is more difficult in the disturbed case, when many complex effects are happening. The polar ionosphere was excluded from this review.
