Velocity ellipsoid parameters are investigated on the basis of data of uvby photometry and the proper motions of about 5500 nearby F stars. The sizes of ellipsoid semiaxes are found to increase systematically for groups of stars with a decrease of both temperature (at constant metallicity) and metallicity (at constant temperature). As the age of a star group increases, stellar ellipsoids become more spherical, and the vertex deviation tends toward zero. The metallicity-velocity dispersion relation of the disk stars exhibits a break at a point which corresponds to the middle of the metallicity distribution. As a result, the velocity dispersion decreases with increasing metallicity for metal-poor stars and remains essentially constant for metal-rich stars.
