The numerous activities carried out in order to establish the Hipparcos Input Catalogue are presented in this book. Starting from more than 200 proposed observing programmes and scientific recommendations from the ESA Hipparcos Selection Committee, the goal of the INCA Consortium was to obtain a catalogue containing as many high-priorty objects as possible while bearing in mind the satellite observing possibilities. Contents: 1. The Input Catalogue preparation. 2. Related activities: The SIMBAD data base.
