The electrostatic hydrogen cyclotron waves and the electric field fluctuations, below the oxygen gyrofrequency (a few Hz) are studied. Satellite observations in the altitude range 7000 to 13000 km of the electric field in 0.2 to 2 Hz and between 1 and 1.9 of the proton frequency ranges, are studied. Wave data from seven orbits passing through the mid altitude acceleration region are studied. A close correlation between the power in the two frequency ranges is observed, during ion conic events, and in ion beam events. The amount of power, the detailed correlation, and the power ratio between the two frequency ranges indicate the possibility that the low frequency fluctuations may be a source of ion acceleration.
