Experimental solubilities of calcite in water originally free of CO 2
and data on the stability of calcite ( , 1968) are consistent with
moderate formation of the CaCO 3 ° ion-pair. The dissociation
constant of CaCO 3 ° is estimated to be K CaCO 3 ° = 10
-3.1±0.3 .
