The telescope control system software for the Isaac Newton and Jacobus
Kapteyn telescopes on the Roque de los Muchachos, La Palma has now been
commissioned. This paper summarises the software developments for these
systems and describes aspects of the design philosophy which is being
adopted for controlling the 4.2 m William Herschel telescope.
