We demonstrate that stationary turbulence consisting of an ensemble of randomly phased small-amplitude whistler waves can become modulationally unstable against the ion acoustic perturbations along the external magnetic field. The growth rate of the instability is calculated. Our results may be useful in the planned whistler wave experiments of the Amps (atmospheric and magnetospheric plasmas in space) mission.
