The optically allowed transitions in carbon-like ions are important in astrophysics, because the measurements of their line intensities represent an aid in the prediction of the temperature, density, and chemical composition of the solar and astrophysical plasmas. It is pointed out, however, that the interpretation of the line intensity ratios requires the knowledge of atomic data for energy levels, transition probabilities, and collision strengths. A series of calculations is in progress to calculate the collision strength, Omega, for transitions in C-like ions. The present paper has the objective to evaluate the empirical constants so that both Omega and gamma can be analytically calculated at any desired energy or temperature within a reasonable accuracy.
