Laboratory studies of ion-molecule reactions involving Xe+/N2+ and HgBr2 vapor at different kinetic energies are reported. The emission spectra due to the HgBr(B2 Sigma+ - X2 Sigma+) transition and highly excited states of atomic mercury are observed. The collision-induced dissociative excitation processes seem to be the dominant mechanism in producing these emissions.
