This summary paper is based on the discussion session held on the final day of the workshop. The purpose of this paper is to address fundamental problems which have been discussed during the workshop, for example, the role of stellar rotation and magnetic fields in the evolution of circumstellar disks, in an attempt to make progress on some of the important questions. These problems have implications for our understanding of the full range of objects with disks.
