The diffusion lifetime of highly elongated slightly ionized irregularities of Gaussian form in a model of the midlatitude ionosphere is examined. A strong nonlinear dependence of the irregularity lifetime on the transverse initial dimension size is obtained which corresponds to experimental data on the artificial modification of the ionosphere via high-power radio waves.
