The UKIRT Fabry Perot system was used to obtain high spectral resolution line profiles (30 to 35 km/s) for Herbig Haro objects. The important mechanisms for the H2 emission include shock heating of external molecular gas in the wings of the bow shock associated with the working surface of a high velocity jet, and shock heating of external molecular gas entrained in the flow by internal shocks occurring in the jet itself and or in its boundary layer.
