The light variations of HZ Her in filter U and colour U-B during the optical eclipse reach 0m.3 on months and years timescales. Long-time variations of the U-B colours correlate with X-ray "turn on" moments, i.e., with the current value of the 35 day cycle period and with P1.24 period of the X-ray pulsar. The variations may be related to cold (6000 - 7000K) gas collected near the side of the optical component opposite to the neutron star when gas is moving away from the corona around the accretion disk outer ring.
