A brief description of the experiments carried out to measure the energy spectrum of antiprotons is made and the excitement in this field of research is elucidated. Various physical processes by which antiprotons could be created are summarised. Propagation models required to derive the equilibrium spectrum of antiprotons in the Galaxy and the spectral modification which takes place while entering the solar system are discussed. A critical assessment is made of the theoretical models by comparing the predicted spectra with the observations.
