We searched for anomalous γ rays in 35S decay as a possible explanation for the kink in the β-decay spectrum, which is claimed to be due to the emission of the heavy 17 keV neutrino. The intensity and spectrum of γ rays we observed are consistent with those of the external and internal bremsstrahlung of the β rays. It is concluded that the γ-ray spectrum has no structures which may mimic the claimed kink.
