High Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph, Hides

This article describes a construction story of HIDES, a new high dispersion echelle spectrograph for the coude focus of the 188cm reflector at Okayama Astrophysical Observatory, NAOJ. HIDES provides the maximum resolving power of 110,000 and the instantaneous wavelength coverage of 1100Å using a single EEV42-80 CCD. It is open for common-use observations at Okayama.
