The hodographs of the IMF vector B near the Earth during flare-induced geomagnetic disturbances are considered. It is found that B either rotates in one direction, or oscillates, or moves chaotically. The chaotic component is also present in the cases of regular rotation or oscillation. These features are interpreted as evidence of the closed, or nearly closed, magnetic field configuration in flare streams. The chaotic component may be due to external forces which cause local deformations of some parts of magnetic loops.
