The paper describes a method for determining magnetic field gradients from the asymmetry of profiles and rotation of Zeeman component wings. The numerical solution of equations of transfer of Stokes parameters is used to calculate the values of asymmetry and rotation of profiles of the magnetosensitive line Fe I 6302.499 as a function of the magnetic field gradient. Computational results are confirmed by spectrophotometric observations of a large sunspot.
