A large sample of HII galaxies have been observed and analyzed in the near IR band (J,H, K) to determine their near-IR properties as well as the presence of old stellar populations if any. The data is very homogeneous and goes deeper than some previous studies, such that may enable us to derive their ages as well as dilucidate the age-metallicity degeneracy.
