The Monitor project is an unprecedented large scale, high cadence, photometric monitoring survey of 9 young (<200 Myr) open clusters and star forming regions. The main aim is to search for transiting planets and brown dwarf eclipsing binaries in the light curves of young low mass cluster members with known ages in order to 1) constrain the formation and evolution of planetary systems, and 2) calibrate the theoretical evolutionary models of young substellar objects by measuring masses and radii. In this contribution, I will review the status of the survey and present preliminary results.
