The correlation results presented give the relations between various parts of the Sq currents. These and other evidences reported show that: (a) The numerical values of the midday departures of H under similarly directed portions of the Sq currents are positively correlated but those under oppositely directed portions are negatively correlated. (b) The equatorial electrojet is positively correlated with return currents of the world-wide Sq but tends to be negatively correlated with the forward currents near noon. (c) Individual cases so far demonstrate that changes in the strengths of the electrojet and world-wide Sq currents are sometimes independent and sometimes inversely related. (d) There is some evidence that the centre of the electrojet is different from that of the world-wide Sq. Of three hypotheses which are used in explaining available results the most successful is that which considers the electrojet as a current circuit whose return path and intensity variations are different from those of the world-wide Sq.
