A computer tape with the global set of paleoclimatic data for 6000 yr B.P. and contour maps of this information was prepared. Data for pollen, lake level, and marine plankton were compiled. Some new data from Alaska, eastern North America, South America, and the Indian Ocean were added to the data set. Maps that show temperature estimates for 6000 yr B.P. from over 200 sites in eastern North America and from over 250 sites in Europe are included. Patterns are evident on these maps, and certain regions, e.g., the Mediterranean and the eastern Canadian Arctic, may have had cooler temperatures at 6000 yr B.P. than today.
