Scientific paper
Subsonic gas flows caused by the effective cooling of dense gas in the deep potential wells of galactic haloes play a key role in the formation of disk galaxies. Similar cooling flows are probably also at work in the hot gas in clusters of galaxies. The evolution of magnetic fields present in the hot halo gas is studied using 3D numerical MHD simulations.
