Neutron Stars: Magnetic Fields

Scientific paper

Based on two nonlinear σ-ω models of nuclear matter, i.e. the Boguta and Bodmer (BB) and the Zimanyi and Moszkowski (ZM) models the authors study the gross properties of cold symmetric nuclear matter and neutron star matter in the relativistic mean-field theory. They find that the influence of the magnetic field on the effective nucleon mass m* is not significant in the ZM model, therefore, they predict that the neutrons in the interior of a neutron star cannot be a superfluid according to the BB model, while neutrons might still be according to the ZM model.
