An annual report covering the operation of the INS 160-cm cyclotron in the FM acceleration mode is presented. Protons with energies up to 50 MeV were used for (p,t) nuclear reactions and in-beam gamma ray spectroscopy. Some He-3 particles were accelerated to 80 MeV, and experiments of elastic, inelastic, (He-3, alpha), and (He-3, d) reactions with medium-heavy nuclei enhance excitation of deeply bound high spin neutron orbits to disclose them as strong peaks of continuum spectra. At the electron synthrotron, a photon tagging system was installed. By use of an absorber method in the extraction of the electron beam from the synchrotron, it became possible to do experiments using tagged photons without significant effects on experiments by the main users of the machine. Two experiments to study photoproduction in the resonance region were performed. Work in theoretical physics, chemistry, accelerator operation, computer services, and general facilities was also reported.
