ESA's contribution to the NASA 2.4 m Space Telescope (ST) program is described. The ST will be launched by the shuttle into a low earth orbit of height 500 to 610 km and inclination 28.8 degs. It is foreseen that ESA may contribute and develop in Europe the faint object camera and the associated imaging photon counting system. In addition it is proposed that ESA should provide the solar arrays and participate in the operations of ST while in orbit.
