We investigate the effects of radial motions on the Ly-alpha emission in moving prominences under various temperature and pressure conditions and for various prominence masses. The ability to compute the Ly-alpha line intensity in active and erupting prominences with our non-LTE radiative transfer code is especially relevant to VAULT and to the LYOT instrument on SMESE. In the case of erupting prominences, high-cadence imaging as anticipated from LYOT/SMESE, will allow us to observe the dimming of the line as the prominence expands in the radial direction. In conjunction with our non-LTE radiative transfer code, the diagnostic of the thermodynamical plasma parameters and the velocity field can be done. This should provide new constraints for models of filament and prominence eruptions.
